Sid Bream’s son has 9 RBI’s today as Liberty completes Sweep of High Point

Tyler Bream(son of Sid Bream, former Major Leaguer with the Braves and others) went 3-for-4 including a three-run home run and tied a school record with nine runs batted in, leading Liberty to a 19-5 victory over High Point Sunday afternoon at Coy O. Williard Sr. Stadium, in High Point.

The Flames scored multiple runs in the first four innings to take control of the contest early. In the first, the first two hitters of the game were hit by a pitch and moved up to second and third on a groundout. The first run came on a dropped ball by the HPU leftfielder before two RBI-singles brought in a pair of runs to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.

High Point answered back in the bottom of the inning which began with a single, hit by pitch and single to load the bases. The Panthers got their first run when Kyle Mahoney grounded into a double-play and Alfie Wheeler advanced to third on the play. He would score on a wild pitch, bringing them within a run at 3-2.

LU took over the game in the next couple of innings posting three, four and five runs in the second, third, and fourth inning, respectively. Doug Bream, T. Bream and Errol Hollinger each drove in a run in the second. A three-run homerun by T. Bream and a solo blast by Hollinger accounted for the runs in the third inning.
