Kernersville Bulldogs and the Stars split games on Sunday:Ray Crawford(Dudley HS), Macon Smith(WG) with HR’s and big-hit for Johnny Brown Jr.(NEG)

Stars tops the Bulldogs in back-and-forth affair, 8-6 Stars and the Bulldogs volleyed the lead five times on Sunday, but Stars came out on top for a 8-6 win on Sunday at Glenn High School. Stars took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. Stars scored on an RBI single by Ben Lott off Justin Wilson, plating Jim Riordon. Stars would not relinquish the lead as the Bulldogs were unable to weather a four-run third inning deficit.The Bulldogs scored on a solo home run by Ray Crawford
(UNCG) and an RBI single by Johnny Brown (Pfeiffer) in the third inning, a solo home
run by Macon Smith (Guilford College) in the fourth inning, and an RBI double by
Robbie Swab (Presbyterian) in the seventh inning. Still, the Bulldogs couldn’t catch
Stars.Bradley Ridings had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.
He tripled in the third and fifth innings.Even though Ben Ryder allowed five runs
over four innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out four, walked two and
surrendered eight hits.Stars was sparked by Ridings and Coty Pate, who teamed up for
eight hits and four RBIs.Stars closer Jake Whaley put away the final six outs to
record the save.The top of the first saw Stars take an early lead, 1-0. The Bulldogs
answered Stars’ top inning with one run of their own in the first. The Bulldogs
scored on an RBI single by Eric Kalbfleisch (UNCG). One the Bulldogs baserunners came
all the way around to score in each of the second, fourth and seventh. In the
second, the Bulldogs scored on an error, bringing home Swab.A key third-inning rally
gave Stars the lead for good. Stars tacked on a total of five s on A fielder’s
choice, an RBI single by Stephan Arcieri, and a two-run triple by Ridings.Stars got
one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, Starsscored on a
fielder’s choice, scoring Cameron Day.

Stars drops 3-2 game to the Bulldogs despite efforts of Pate

Coty Pate did all he could to give Stars a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Bulldogs, as Stars lost 3-2 in seven innings at Glenn High School on Sunday. Stars was led by Pate’s hitting. Pate went 1-1 and drove in one. He singled in the sixth inning. Tyler Jackson (App State) got the win for the Bulldogs. He pitched five shutout
innings.Jackson struck out six, walked seven and gave up no hits. The Bulldogs never
trailed after scoring two runs in the third on a two-run home run by Brandon
Harrison (WSSU).The Bulldogs tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fourth when
Dario Little (NC A& T) stole home.A two-run sixth inning helped bring Stars within
one. An RBI single by Pate and an error sparked Stars’ rally. The Bulldogs stopped
the rally after Justin Hunt UNCA) got Ridge Hoopii-Haslam too.
