Devin Sweet(Southeast Guilford HS) has joined the Oakland A’s and could be coming out of the bullpen on Friday for the Athletics

Devin Sweet, RHP from Southeast Guilford High School, and from North Carolina Central University, was called up today/Thursday to the Oakland A’s and has joined their roster, as a relief pitcher….He could be on the mound, coming out of the bullpen for Oakland, on Friday vs. the Texas Rangers…

How Devin Sweet got to Oakland…
Relief pitcher Devin Sweet has been claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics and optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas. The 26-year-old reliever was designated for assignment by Seattle on August 31 to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for Dominic Leone. Sweet appeared in just two games with the M’s this season, posting a 9.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 1:1 K/BB ratio but has been more than solid in the minor leagues. Across two levels (Triple-A and Double-A) this season, he owns a 1.71 ERA, 0.976 WHIP, and 54:11 K/BB Ratio over 42 innings of relief. Oakland will likely call him up to the big leagues down the stretch here to give him an opportunity to showcase his stuff.
