Guilford Finished Competition at ODAC Track and Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, VA. – The Guilford College track and field teams closed action on Saturday at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.

The Quaker men had a strong day after scoring 10 points. GC placed ninth of the 10 teams.

The 4×100 relay team of sophomore Juwan Houston, Josephus Mitchell, Jeremiah Hedrick and freshman Asa Bell placed fourth after recording a 44:51 time. That earned the Quakers five points in the competition.

Mitchell ran a time of 11.17 in the 100M finals. The senior earned three points for the Quakers in his final ODAC meet.

Hedrick, a sophomore, brought home two points in the triple jump. He placed seventh after earning a mark of 13.50–which is the third-best in program history. Sophomore Wanya Alford was 10th with a distance of 13.19–tying for the fifth-longest mark in Quaker lore.

On the women’s side, senior Sommer Fanney competed in both the 800m and 1500M. She was 13th in the 1500 (5:10.65) and ran the 800 in 2:27.21 (13th overall). Her 1500 clocking was the ninth-fastest in GC history. The Quaker women placed ninth in the team competition.
