Junior Robinson(Eastern Alamance HS/Mount St. Mary’s) named Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week and for third time this season

Junior Robinson was a guest with on Basketball in Focus here at GreensboroSports.com several years ago, and now in his senior season in college at Mount St. Mary’s, Junior, now a senior, is averaging 21.9 points a game and leads the Northeastern Conference in scoring and he has been the Northeastern Conference Player of the Week three times this season…Good job Junior Robinson and he has always seemed to me to be a very aggressive and out-going young man….Back when we had him on as our guest, about five years ago, he called us, we didn’t call him….He was just trying to get his name out there and I have to say, Junior Robinson, only 5’5, has done a great job in his young and still growing basketball career….

from the Mount St. Mary’s basketball website:

Mount St. Mary’s senior guard Junior Robinson(Eastern Alamance HS) has been named the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week….It is the second consecutive week that the Mount has had a player named NEC Player and NEC Rookie of the Week.

Robinson wins NEC Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after averaging 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in leading the Mount to a pair of wins, stretching the team’s win streak to a season-best four games. Robinson scored a game-high 23 points in the Mount’s 81-75 win over Sacred Heart last Thursday. He hit 14-of-17 at the foul line in the win while scoring 10 points over the final 1:15 of the game. In Saturday’s 81-80 overtime win against NEC Preseason favorite Saint Francis U, Robinson recorded his second career double-double with 20 points and 10 assists. He hit 8-of-13 from the field, and scored the go-ahead layup with 13.9 seconds left in overtime. Robinson leads the Northeast Conference in scoring at 21.9 points per game while he is second in assists at 5.4 per contest.

Robinson becomes just the second player in Mount history to have three or more NEC Player of the Week awards in the same season. Chris McGuthrie did it twice during his career, winning NEC Player of the Week four times in 1995-96 and three times during the 1994-95 season. Robinson’s four career NEC Player of the Week awards are tied for the second-most all-time by a Mount player with Jeremy Goode and Landy Thompson. McGuthrie was named NEC Player of the Week on seven occasions.

  1. So supposedly Jr contacted you to help get his name out? Not him winning the conference 3 times against Greensboro teams that you follow and report on. Not that he was 2 times all state. I don’t think he need help to get his name out by a local paper. Also everyone who knows him, knows he isn’t aggressive or out going. He is a hard worker who was overlooked by everyone in NC. It’s why he is playing college ball in MD. Thank you anyway.

  2. Lots of success for Junior Robinson and hopefully continued success for him….

We’ll keep getting the word out…
