College Volleyball Final – Salem 3, Guilford 0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Kathryn O’Connell had nine kills on .412 hitting to lead Salem College to a 3-0 volleyball win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday night. The Spirits improved to 19-8 with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 victory.

Salem took advantage of 22 Quakers’ hitting errors and served up 12 aces. Taylor Moulton and Kylie Taffer added five kills apiece for the Spirits. Lauren Holman chipped in 13 assists and six service aces. Hannah Delcamp contributed 14 assists, two service aces and six digs. Moulton, O’Connell, and Bernisha Master each had three blocks.

Jessica Sheek’s game-high 13 kills on .600 hitting led the Quakers (11-7), who played without starting setter Tina Eucker. Morgan Tompkins contributed eight kills and 10 digs. McKinley Durham led all students with 17 digs. Kylee Crook had a match- and career-high 29 assists as the Quakers’ setter and also picked up 10 digs.

Coach Emily Gann’s Quakers return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Friday at Randolph-Macon College.
