Five Players Earn USA South Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College had five student-athletes receive USA South Athletic Conference honors for their performance over the past week.

Kamryn Webster (football), Quinton Maxbauer (football), Angela Niles (women’s soccer) and Danyale Berry (volleyball) received Rookie of the Week Honors, while David Chappelear received football Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.

Football Awards

Offensive Rookie of the Week
Kamryn Webster – The freshman quarterback from Roxie, Mississippi threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns without an interception in a 23-21 victory over Gallaudet last week. Webster was 6-of-12 passing as he averaged 15.3 yards per attempt. His long pass of the day was a 74-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Defensive Rookie of the Week
Quinton Maxbauer – The freshman safety from Murfreesboro, North Carolina totaled 14 tackles with one pass breakup in a 23-21 win over Gallaudet last week. Maxbauer collected eight solo tackles and six assisted takedowns.

Special Teams Player of the Week
David Chappelear – The freshman place kicker from Bluffton, South Carolina hit a game-winning 22-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining in a 23-21 victory over Gallaudet last week.

Women’s Soccer Awards

Angela Niles – The Key West, Florida freshman forward scored three goals as the Pride were 2-0 last week. In a 10-0 win over Notre Dame (Md.), Niles scored two goals. In a 3-0 victory over Keystone, Niles tallied the first, and eventual game-winning, goal of the match in the 67th minute.

Volleyball Awards

Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Danyale Berry – The freshman outside hitter from Las Vegas, Nevada averaged 3.17 kills, with a .304 hitting percentage, per set as the Pride posted a 3-1 record last week. In a 3-0 win over Elizabeth City State, Berry tallied 12 kills and three service aces. In a 3-0 victory over Huntingdon, Berry five kills, two blocks, one assist and one dig. In a 3-0 loss to Lynchburg, Berry totaled ten kills, one dig and one block. Finally, in a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry, Berry tallied 11 kills, three service aces, two digs, one assist and one block.
