College Men’s Soccer Final – Greensboro 5, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Gerardo Peraza scored three goals and passed one assist–all in the second half–as Greensboro College defeated Guilford College, 5-0, on Sunday at the Armfield Athletic Center.

The visiting Pride improved to 3-2 and the Quakers fell to 0-5.

The score was 0-0 after an evenly matched first half. Guilford led in shots, 5-4, in the first 45 minutes.

Greensboro’s offense caught fire in the 49th minute when Carlos Barragan scored to the far post after a Guilford turnover led to a fast break for the Pride.

In the 57th minute, Cole Watkins headed home a corner kick from Peraza to push the score to 2-0.

Peraza then tallied in the 57th, 85th (assisted by Darline Mihindou) and 88th minutes to close the scoring.

Greensboro had a slight lead in shots, 16-14. Both clubs took seven corner kicks.

Michael McShane recorded two saves in his first start in goal. Jason Aguilar had seven shots for the Quakers.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday night at Methodist University. Game time is 7 p.m.
