  1. Both defenses are as good as advertised. Halftime it was knotted up at 0-0. This game came down to the wire.

Eastern started the scoring with a 40+ yard FG. Page QB Paige would end up throwing an interception on the next drive and EG ran it down to the 3, they punched it in and Page blocked the PAT, 9-0 EG. It seemed like EG had control of the game at this point, and they definitely had momentum. Page’s offense was able to move the ball, but kept up the miscues with turnovers and penalties. EG made Page punt again, it was downed at the 1 yard line, which led to a safety a couple of plays later (this is where the huge momentum shift happened). Page secured possession and scored on a long pass play after the safety, tying the score again at 9-9. Both teams would score another TD each, tying it at 16-16. In the 4th quarter, Page would finally stamp the game over after a 18 play, 74 yard drive, that set up a 19 yard FG. The drive consumed about 8 and a half minutes. Eastern blew all 3 of their timeouts on the drive. EG set up a FG attempt with about 10 seconds left, but Page blocked the attempt. 19-16 Final.

Eastern was unable to run the ball really for the whole game. The wildcats were held to 3 net yards on 25 carries. Longest gain being 7 yards. (per the gso n&r)

  2. Huge win for Coach Wallace and NW Guilford tonight. After losing their starting QB last week against SEG it didn’t look good for the Vikings going into Roscoe Stadium. They came through and have won 2 in a row against Rival Northern. Congrats to the Vikings 1st year HC. I think NW maybe just got better with this new HC hire. Give him a few years and NW may be the team to beat in that Conference

  3. correction: it wasnt a long pass play that tied the game up at 9, it was a 50 yard run by Page RB Sincere Davis

  4. Coach Davis and his staff did a great coaching job tonight on defense. With key players out due to injuries, the young pups stepped up to the plate. They held Oregon commit Jamaul Elliott to less than 100 yards and no touch downs. Also, Dudley have a new young kicker that will be a new weapon for the Panthers.

  5. correction #2: it was Cody King who scored the 50 yard run, sorry guys.

Seems like the News & Record got it wrong too.

  6. I’m shocked Hillside is 1-3, that’s a pretty good team, and their QB was amazing last night, made alot of plays under pressure.

  7. Right now… I would say Wake Forest. They are the real deal right now. A close 2nd is Mallard Creek.

  8. Yes Coach, I saw Hillside QB in the Scotland CO game and you are right he is pretty good. I actually had Hillside a slight favorite coming in to last nights game with the injuries Dudley had. But Dudley has some good young talent that stepped in and they did not miss a beat.

  9. We had not heard much about the Durham Hillside QB coming into the Dudley game, but in our pre-game studies on Friday, he really got our attention…

Randy Trice Jr., the Hillside QB, had 974 yards passing, with 9 TD’s and 5 INT’s coming into the Dudley game and he was averaging 326 yards per game passing over three games coming to Friday at Dudley…

Trice Jr. has a nice varied release on the football and he moves well outside of the passing pocket…

That kid gave Dudley fits at the end of the first half, but Dudley was able to get pressure on Trice Jr. in the second half….

Elliot on had 79 yards on the season coming into the game for Hillside and he only had a few TD’s….Elliot had only played two games of three for Hillside and he did not play last week vs. Pinecrest…

Elliot ran well vs. Dudley in the second half, but Dudley kept him and the Hillside offense bottled up enough to keep them out of the End Zone….

Lots of new faces on the field for Dudley and the Panthers are doing a good job to adjusting to the new personnel….
