GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team was picked to finish tied for fourth in the USA South East Division preseason coaches poll, the conference announced Thursday.

“The preseason poll is just a prediction based off of last season,” first year Head Coach Kathy Bullock said. “Our goal is to get better every time that we step onto the court and we plan to be the best team possible.”

The Pride welcome back nine players from last season’s team including seniors Evan Sherer, Shayla Moss, Emily Horn and Alexis Terrette. In addition to the nine returners, Greensboro also welcomes six new players to floor for 2017.

Averett University was tabbed as the favorite in the East Division after receiving six first-place votes, while Meredith College took second in the poll and received two first-place votes.

The Pride women will get their 2017 slate underway Sept.2 when the host the Greensboro College Labor Day Invitational in Hanes Gymnasium. Greensboro will square off with a familiar opponent in Ferrum College at 1:30 p.m. before playing Surry Community College at 3:30 p.m.
