Elon’s Million Receives NFCA All-Region Softball Accolades

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior Carey Million of the Elon University softball team was recognized on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team as announced by the organization on Thursday, May 18.

2017 NFCA Division I All-Region Honorees

This is the first All-Region accolade for Million in her career and the sixth straight season that the Phoenix has had a member of its program receive NFCA All-Region honors. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.

An All-Colonial Athletic Association second team selection at catcher, Million played in 52 games for the Phoenix, making 51 starts. The Roebling, N.J., native had a breakout season during her senior campaign, batting a career-high .329 and pacing the squad in several offensive categories including homers (seven), slugging percentage (.546), stolen bases (eight) and set the program’s single-season school record with 48 RBI. She also posted a team-high 11 multi-RBI games and had the longest reached base streak of the season at 12 games.

Million also was very formidable for offenses from her position behind the dish during the season. She led the CAA with 15 runners caught stealing and had the highest fielding percentage on the team at .990 among players with at least 30 or more chances.

Million was among 667 student-athletes from 175 programs that received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. The 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 31, via NFCA.org.
