Holland Auto Care High School Baseball and Softball Tonight Finals:Northern wins 2-1 in 9 and NG will meet the ROCK for the 4th time this season next Tuesday at NG/Chris Villaman had “Perfect Game” for the Ledford Panthers on Saturday night

Round Three NCHSAA Playoffs next Tuesday with two of our Guilford County Baseball Teams at home….
4-A:South Caldwell at Southeast Guilford…3-A:Rockingham County at Northern Guilford

Baseball Finals…

South Caldwell 8, East Forsyth 7
Ledford 7, South Rowan 0
**********Perfect Game for Ledford and their pitcher Chris Villaman…The Ledford Panthers’ Avery Cain caught the Perfect Game and Luke Spiva, in right field for Ledford, made a diving catch to save the Perfect Game in the 7th Inning…..**********
North Stanley 10, Bishop McGuinness 0
from Northern Guilford HS:
Northern Guilford 2, Corinth Holders 1 (9 Innings)
WP:Joe Millwee/LP:Conner Bass
JC Ouzts went 8 2/3’s for Northern but hit his pitch count and he had to come out of the game with two outs in the 9th Innings and Joe Millwee came on to record the third out and he went on to get the Win….
*****Northern wins in the bottom of the 9th as Millwee lead of the inning with a line drive out to SS, then NG got a Double from Troy Minor and with one out, Josh Pike lifted a fly ball to center field that was caught, Minor tagged at second and came on over to third base and throw was off the mark and when the ball got away at third, Minor headed home and the throw to the plate was way high and Minor scored the game-winning run on what proved to be a SAC Fly to CF by Josh Pike and with the two throwing errors, Minor scored and the Nighthawks win it and they are on their way to Round Four of the NCHSAA 3-A baseball playoffs and they will be hosting Rockingham County at NG, next Tuesday night…..

NG’s head coach Landon Kimrey on the 8 2/3’s effort by starter JC Ouzts, saying, “Ouzts was a bulldog out there again today and came out ready from the beginning and he wanted the game”….Ouzts went 8 2/3’s Innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits, with 3 BB’s and 11 K’s, with one HBP….Great effort again today by John Clark Ouzts….
“Joe Millwee came and was ready to carry the load”, said Coach Kimrey….”Millwee knew what he had to do and he came in and got it done”….

Northern got a break at the end on the two throwing miscues by Corinth Holders and Coach Kimrey knew his team had caught a break, but he felt the same thing had happened his team over time and this the Baseball Gods decided to shine down on his Nighthawks….

Northern will be facing the Rockingham County Cougars in the 4th Round of the NCHSAA 3-A Playoffs at NG next Tuesday night and it will be the fourth time the two teams have met this season….The games have gone 3-0. 6-0 and 4-0, all in favor of Northern Guilford….

This will also mark the fourth straight year the Northern Guilford has gone/advanced to the third round of the playoffs and with Cameron Cotter ready to take the mound/hill for Northern Guilford on Tuesday, Northern hopes ‘the 4th time will be the charm, all the way around’….

Coach Kimrey said it is all about, “Survive and Advance” and Northern has proven again this year that they can make that happen and Coach Kimrey is hoping for some Redemption like they got this afternoon, as Northern was able to knock off the team(Corinth Holders) that eliminated them from the playoffs, by a 3-1 score at Northern, on May 18, 2016….

Ouzts, Pike, Millwee and Minor and a lot of big names in the Mix tonight for Northern…We will have more game numbers coming your way soon, but for now, the number ringing out, out on Spencer Dixon Roah is,
Northern Guilford 2, Corinth Holders 1….And NG catcher Josh Pike was a prophet today as spoke up before the game this afternoon and said, “We Got This”, and never before, have truer words been spoken…
Northern Guilford 2, Corinth Holders 1 in 9 Innings and more on the way….

  1. Just posted on Coach Gillespie and thanks for the heads up…Excellent coach and he will be missed big-time at Page…

The only job I ever thought he might leave Page for was the head job at Thomasville, another program like Page with a storied tradition and Coach Gillespie had some ties to Thomasville….

Coach Gillespie also with ties to Asheboro….He and Coach Norman Weeks were there together over 20 years ago as assistant coaches under head man, David Moody….

Good luck to Coach Gillespie…He is tough and he will do well…..

  2. Northern Guilford at home vs. Rockingham County on Tuesday night with First Pitch due at 7pm…..

NG DiamondHawks on Twitter for affirmation:
Round 3! Rockingham County at Northern Guilford on Tuesday at 7:00. @gsosports @JoeSireraNR
