College Softball Final – Emory & Henry 7, Guilford 2 (ODAC Tournament)

SALEM, Va. – Emory & Henry College’s Caley Hodge posted five RBI as Guilford fell in a Saturday morning elimination game in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Tournament over Emory & Henry, 7-2, at the Moyer Sports Complex.

Hodge hit a pair of home runs to power her two-for-three day. Hodge connected on a home run to left field to represent Emory & Henry’s (31-12) two-run rally in the top of the first inning. Hodge’s home run to left field in the top of the fifth inning capped a five-run rally with all runs coming with two outs.

The Quakers posted a pair of singles in a comeback bid in the bottom of the sixth inning as Makayla Carver connected on a one-out single to center field. Kayli Blankenship advanced Carver on the next at-bat with a bunt single, setting up Anna Wolfe to drive both runners home. Wolfe connected on a two-out, two-run double to right-center field to represent Guilford’s two-run rally in the inning.

Wolfe hit two-for-three, one three Quakers with multiple hits. Carver also hit two-for-three while Natalie Conrad came off the bench to hit two-for-two.

Courtney Lackey (11-8) took the loss for the Quakers in a four and two-third innings effort where she fanned one and walked one.

Emily Kendrick (18-7) claimed the win for Emory & Henry, fanning two in a complete-game effort.

Guilford (30-13) wraps up the season with the most wins in school history, breaking the previous record of 29 set in the 2014 season.
