Elon Track and Field Ends Regular Season at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – A new personal-best for Bre’anna Warren in the shot put highlighted the second and final day for the Elon University women’s track and field team at the Duke Invitational on Saturday, April 22, at Morris Williams Track Stadium.

FINAL RESULT

Warren threw a mark of 47’ 3.5” (14.41m) in the shot put and finished as the runner-up overall in the event. Teammate Bryanna Hames was right behind Warren with her heave of 46’ 8.75” (14.24m) and was third overall.

Hames was Elon’s top finisher in the discus throw with her toss of 161’ 7” (49.27m) and was third overall. Warren also finished in the top-five of the event with a throw of 160’ 2” (48.82m) for fourth.

Carrie Abraham was third in the triple jump as the senior had a best leap of 38’ 9.5” (11.82m). Rookie Melody Burke also finished in the top-10 with her personal-best leap of 38’ 7.75” (11.50m). Corey Weiss was seventh overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 11:13.36.

Coralea Geraniotis with Elon’s top runner in the 1,500-meters with her time of 4:39.53. Shelby Cuddeback was close to Geraniotis with her time of 4:40.14 while Chelsea Smith clocked a 4:40.47.

The Phoenix’s 4×400-meter relay team finished the meet with a time of 3:54.19. That was good for fifth overall for the quartet.

Elon will compete next at the Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Delaware on May 5-6.
