Hometown Sports News – Greensboro’s Abraham (Dudley HS) Completes Basketball Season at Guilford College

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Essence Abraham (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley) recently completed her second season with Guilford College’s women’s basketball team.

Abraham, a 5-5 point guard, appeared in 27 games for the Quakers as Guilford’s first guard off the bench. She averaged 5.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Abraham ranked fifth among the team’s scoring leaders, fifth in assists and second in steals. She scored a season-high 14 points with three assists and three steals February 14 versus Randolph College in a 70-62 league victory. Abraham totaled 10 or more points in five games this year.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers finished with a 24-4 overall record, 14-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Guilford won its fifth ODAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the sixth time in school history. The Quakers expect as many as nine letter winners back in 2017-18, including Abraham.
