College Baseball Final – Guilford 15, Bluefield State 3

PRINCETON, W. Va. – Guilford College’s Sammy Gerald posted five hits with two RBI as the Quakers claimed a Wednesday evening contest over Bluefield State College, 15-3. The game was played at Hunnicutt Field, home of the Appalachian League’s Princeton Rays, rookie league affiliates of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Quakers (14-12) used a six-run fourth frame to enlarge their lead over the Big Blues. Guilford created more distance in the top of the sixth inning with a five-run rally.

Josh Shepherd tallied two hits and posted four RBI to lead the Quakers. Andrew Brann posted three RBI and two hits on the evening.

Ty Walser (2-2) collected the win for the Quakers in a six-inning start where he struck out seven.

The Quakers return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday, traveling to Shenandoah University for a noon doubleheader. Shenandoah is the top-ranked team in the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top-25 poll.
