Elon’s Satterfield Garners CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – One of a handful of freshmen contributing for the Elon University baseball team early this season, infielder Joe Satterfield has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on March 27.

Satterfield, a native of Greenville, S.C., helped the Phoenix get off to a 2-1 start in CAA play as he hit .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs, a double, eight runs scored and three RBIs in four games. He is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak that includes four multi-hit outings. He scored at least one run in all four games this week and crossed the plate multiple times in three outings. Satterfield went 2-for-3 and scored twice from the leadoff spot in Sunday’s conference victory over Northeastern, including a solo homer in the seventh inning that snapped a 0-0 tie.

On the year, Satterfield leads the Phoenix with a .377 batting average, going 23-for-61. He has four doubles, three homers, has scored 12 times and driven in seven runs. In 19 games, including 16 starts, he has posted a .458 on-base percentage and a team-best .590 slugging percentage.

Satterfield is the third Elon player to pick up a weekly award from the conference office this year.
