Oh Captain, My Captain
Head coach Mike Kennedy announced prior to the 2017 season that five players will serve as team captains this year. Seniors Jordan Barrett, Danny Crowe and Will Nance will be joined by sophomore Ryne Ogren and red-shirt freshman Cam Devanney as the Phoenix captains in 2017.

Nearing 100
Three Phoenix players are closing in on the 100-hit mark for their Elon careers. Sophmore Ryne Ogren is the closest with 92 hits in 76 career games. Senior Kyle Jackson has 86 hits in 78 career games and senior Kory Shumate has 76 hits in 108 career contests. Both Jackson and Shumate transferred to Elon. Jackson is in his second year with the team, while Shumate is playing his third season with the Phoenix.

On the mound, two pitchers are nearing 100 career strikeouts. Senior Nick Beaulac (in his third year with the team) has 99 career Ks in 93.2 innings. Senior Jordan Barrett (in his second season with the maroon and gold) has 99 Ks in 101.0 innings.

Satterfield Earns CAA ROW Accolades
Infielder Joe Satterfield was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week on March 27 after helping the Phoenix get off to a 2-1 start in CAA play as he hit .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs, a double, eight runs scored and three RBIs in four games. He extended his hitting streak to seven-games, including four multi-hit outings. He scored at least one run in all four games and crossed the plate multiple times in three outings. Satterfield went 2-for-3 and scored twice from the leadoff spot in Sunday’s conference victory over Northeastern, including a solo homer in the seventh inning that snapped a 0-0 tie.
