Matt Stack leaves McMichael High School to become the head football coach for the Rosman Tigers

from the Asheville Citizen-Times at www.citizen-times.com:

Transylvania County Schools approved Matthew Stack as the next football coach at Rosman during a board meeting Monday night.

Stack replaces Freddie Whitman who went 34-54 in eight seasons. It was announced in February that Whitman’s contract would not be renewed.

Stack has been a football coach, baseball coach, and teacher for nine years in Physical Education and English. Graduating from Clemson University with a degree in sports management, he played both football and baseball during a collegiate career that included years at Erskine College and Gardner-Webb University.

Having taught and coached at high schools across central and eastern North Carolina, Stack is taking his first coaching assignment in the mountains at Rosman. He has served most recently as head football coach and strength and conditioning coach with the Fighting Phoenix of McMichael High School in Rockingham County Schools.
