College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Oberlin 14, Guilford 5

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maggie Mullard scored each of her game-high four goals in the first half to spark Oberlin College to a 14-5 lacrosse win at Guilford College Sunday. Natalie Rauchle netted three of her four goals in the opening half as the Yeowomen (5-0) raced to a 10-1 lead 24 minutes into the game.

Mullard had three scored in the game’s opening six minutes. Teammate Sydney Garvis netted the first of her two goals 7:06 into the match, which gave Oberlin a quick, 4-0 lead.

Guilford’s Madison Iandoli got the Quakers on the board 21 minutes before halftime, but Rauchle answered 36 seconds later and again at the 19:39 mark. The Yeowomen outshot Guilford, 14-10, and won nine of the 12 draws in the opening half.

The Quakers’ Holly Kozak and Summer Fowler scored around a Josephine An free-position goal early in the second half, which pulled the Quakers to within 11-4 with 21:26 left in regulation. Guilford drew no closer as the Yeowomen’s Hayley Drapkin and Morgan Daruwala tallied 39 seconds apart with 16:11 remaining.

Rauchle added an assist and finished with a game-high five points. Drapkin had three points on a goal and two assists. Oberlin had the edge in shots, 29-17, and draw controls, 16-5. Guilford had 14 ground balls to 12 for the Yeowomen. Goalkeeper Siena Marcelle got the win for Oberlin. She had five saves and is now 5-0.

Guilford’s Kozak led the Quakers with two goals. Taylor Campellone had three assists. Fowler added four ground balls, a draw control and three caused turnovers to her goal. Goalie Sammi Milbourn made 11 stops and caused three turnovers.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers (1-5) host cross-town rival Greensboro College Wednesday (3/22). First draw is at 7 p.m.
