HPU’s Emma Bockrath named Big South WBB Player of the Year

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University women’s basketball’s sophomore Emma Bockrath has been named the Big South Player of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday. Similarly, senior Kaylah Keys earned second team all-conference honors while freshman Camryn Brown made the All-Freshman Team and sophomore Lindsey Edwards was placed on the All-Academic squad.

Bockrath becomes the third Panther to earn the Big South Player of the Year award joining Stacia Robertson (’14-’15) and Katie O’Dell (’04-’05) who both won in their senior seasons in the Purple & White. Meanwhile, Keys’ selection to the All-Big South Second Team gives her three all-league selections in her career joining O’Dell as the only two Panthers to make either the first or second team three times.

Likewise, Brown’s All-Freshman Team recognition gives High Point four current student-athletes as she joins Keys, Bockrath and sophomore Haleigh Hatfield in garnering the award.

Rounding out the award winners, Edwards is the Panthers’ representative on the Big South All-Academic Team after junior Kat Harris collected to award in 2015-16.
