North Florida Snaps Elon Men’s Tennis Home Win Streak

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s tennis team suffered its first home loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, a 6-1 setback to North Florida at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Felipe Sarrasague highlighted Elon’s day with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) victory over 64th-ranked Jack Findel-Hawkins at No. 1 singles. The sophomore leads the Phoenix with nine singles wins this season.

Elon falls to 6-8 with the loss, while North Florida improves to 7-5. The Phoenix is now 5-1 this season at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

The Rundown
Sarrasague’s singles victory gave Elon its lone point of the match.

The Ospreys took a 1-0 lead into singles play after winning two of the three doubles matches. Sarrasague and Taylor Foote dropped a 6-0 decision on court No. 2 before Neal Port and Salvador Mijares responded with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position.

Petar Tomic and Chris Humphreys battled Findel-Hawkins and Jefta Kecic on the top doubles court, where the Ospreys won 6-2 to clinch the point.

North Florida got off to a fast start in singles, winning the first set on each of the six courts. Jonathan Deautriell gave the Ospreys a 2-0 lead after defeating Jacob Bicknell 6-2, 6-1 on court No. 6.

The Ospreys clinched the match by winning in quick succession on court Nos. 3 and 4. Lasse Muscheites beat Felipe Osses-Konig 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to earn the deciding fourth point.

North Florida went on to add two more points with straight-set victories on court Nos. 5 and 2.

– Neal Port and Salvador Mijares’ 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles marked the duo’s fifth straight. The pairing is now 6-2 on the season.
