College Men’s Tennis Final – Bridgewater 5, Guilford 4

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Kyle Hartfield’s 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at first singles clinched visiting Bridgewater College’s 5-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tennis victory Saturday. Hartfield edged Quakers’ rookie Tate Godwin to claim victory for the Eagles (3-1, 1-0 ODAC).

Guilford (2-3, 0-1 ODAC) had a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Tate Godwin and Mesa Martorell teamed for an 8-5 victory over Hartfield and Joe Dillenback at first singles. Graham Pearson and Chasen Chacon pulled out a 9-8 (7-5) triumph at second doubles for Guilford.

Dillenback went three tight sets to top Martorell at second singles, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. Thomas Rishcoff (#3 singles) and Nathaniel Horner (#5 singles) posted straight-set wins to set up Hartfield’s clincher.

Guilford’s Jon-Anthony Thomas (#4 singles) and Mason Church (#6 singles) won their singles contests.
