HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s lacrosse team is back on the road on Wednesday night to take on No. 9 Virginia in Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.

The Panthers (2-2) are coming off a 15-6 victory over St. John’s on Saturday while the Cavaliers (3-1) took their first loss of the season at Penn.

Quick Hitters:
• Twelve different Panthers scored goals on Saturday as High Point used a 9-0 second-half run to close out a 15-6 win over St. John’s in Vert Stadium.
• Senior Michael LeClair paced the offense dishing out three assists while adding a goal. Meanwhile, sophomore Connor Robinson netted the second hat trick of his career in the contest.
• Defensively, senior Tanner Landstra recorded a career-high four caused turnovers as the Purple & White forced 15 Red Storm miscues on the day.
• In the cage, sophomore Tim Troutner Jr. made nine stops to improve his season save percentage to .551.
• Freshmen Colin Zimmerman (2g), Mitchel Snyder and Ian Sheekey and sophomores Peyton Bozel and Griff Caligiuri all notched the first goals of their careers. Similarly, senior Cole Carns returned from missing the 2016 season and scored his first goal since the 2015 SoCon Championship game.
• The win gave the Panthers eight straight at home, however the squad has dropped their last five games away from Vert Stadium.
• HPU’s last road win came on Feb. 23, 2016 against the Cavaliers in the program’s first top-10 victory.
• In last season’s meeting between these two teams, High Point built a 10-5 lead only to see UVA storm back in the fourth quarter to force overtime. However, Dan Lomas buried a goal in the first possession of overtime to give High Point the dramatic win.
• Michael LeClair (2g, 2a) and Tim Troutner Jr. (15 saves) each posted big outings against UVA in 2016.
• Virginia was picked to finish sixth in the ultra-competitive six-team ACC this season. The team is led by Zed Williams who already has 20 points on the year.
• High Point is 3-13 all-time against ranked opponents with the last two wins coming in overtime (No. 20 Richmond ’15 and No. 10 Virginia ’16). Meanwhile, the Panthers are 1-9 all-time against top-10 foes.
• In just its third year of existence, the Southern Conference has picked up five wins over top-20 non-conference opponents. However, the highest-ranked team to lose to a SoCon team was No. 9 Duke to Richmond during March of 2016.

The High Point program picked up a monumental 12-11 overtime win at Virginia last season and is 1-0 against UVA.

All-Time against the ACC
HPU’s triumph over the Cavaliers last season is the program’s only win in eight tries against an Atlantic Coastal Conference foe in program history. Along with their 1-0 record against Virginia, the Panthers are 0-4 against Duke and 0-3 versus North Carolina.

LeClair’s Streak
• As a freshman, LeClair posted a point in three of his first seven games, but has scored in every one since then (45 straight).
• The streak is the longest in HPU history passing Lomas’ streak (32) and is the second-longest active streak nationally.
