After spending 6 seasons at Eastern Guilford High School, the first three as their Defensive Coordinator, Running Backs coach, and the last three as their Offensive & Special Teams Coordinator. SE Guilford has selected Coach Kennedy Tinsley as their Head Football Coach.

Coach Tinsley played an intricate part in the turnaround of the football program at Eastern Guilford High School where the Wildcats went from 2-9 in 2012 to 15-1 in 2016 where they finished runner-up in the 3-AA State Championship.

In 2016, Coach Tinsley’s offense averaged 32 points and almost 350 yards per game in which 8 offensive players were named all-conference.

As the Head women’s Track Coach, Coach Tinsley also led Eastern Guilford to three Conference titles, a Regional, and the 2016 3-A State Championship.

After graduating from Dudley High School in 2005, Coach Tinsley lettered 4 years at UNC-Chapel Hill playing both linebacker and full back positions. During the 2009 season, Coach Tinsley was named Team Captain and was given Special Teams Player of the Week honors four times. In 2010, Coach Tinsley was an undrafted free agent for the St. Louis Rams and was later a 5th Round draft pick for the Las Vegas Locos in the now defunct UFL. Coach Tinsley and his wife, Christina, have three daughters, Kaycee, Kellee, and Kenzee. We are happy to welcome them to the Falcon family.

  1. I wish nothing but the best for Coach Tinsley at SE. he has meant so much to the football program at EG for the past several years. he has done great things with the track program as well. he is a great role model to the student athletes and always goes the extra mile. he will do great things at SE if given the time to build a program. it may be EG’s loss but it’s great to see his tireless work rewarded with a great opportunity.

  2. I TOO THINK THAT COACH TINSLEY IS A GOOD HIRE AND WISH HIM NOTHING BUT THE BEST.
EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T LIKE THE OFFENSE THAT COACH FRITZ RAN,I THINK HE WAS A VERY GOOD COACH AND A GOOD MAN.
ITS NOT LIKE COACH TINSLEY IS STEPPING INTO A BAD PROGRAM. HE’S INHERITED A PROGRAM THATS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.
ANDY, GO BACK AND READ SOME OF YOUR OWN QUOTES ABOUT HTE SEG PROGRAM.
ITS NOT LIKE HE’S TAKING OVER THE PROGRAMS AT SMITH, WG,SA,GRIMSLEY OR SOME OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHAT’S GOING ON AT SG TO LOSE 2 REAL GOOD COACHES THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, ESPECIALLY TO GO TO GRIMSLEY AND NEG. SOMETHING IS WRONG THERE.

  3. Sort of like someone mentioned on a previous post in it being kind of a lateral move for Coach Bates, going from Southern to Northeast and if you look at the geography of it, it is…

Coach Bates lives just a few miles from Northeast Guilford High School and for him that will sure be a much easier commute…

Just think how many times a week and sometimes how many times a day, a coach walks out of his house/home and heads off to the school for more practice and prep work…

This move will make all that much easier on Coach Bates and NEG has a good history of football and track and those two are his specialty, just like it is with Coach Tinsley, his specialties are football and track…

They say, “If you can get closer to home, take it”….And he did…And sometimes that works out better to do, when you have had a few stops already along the way….

  4. HS FB Fan:

The football at SG appears to be pretty good at 36 and 6 over last 3 years.

I think Coach Brown left because of a meddling unsupporting principal. He is too much of a gentleman to say that though.

I am surprised Coach Bates left since the principal is now gone. I would not say that is a lateral move when you compare records over the last 4 to 5 years.

  5. Congratulations to Coach Tinsley! Welcome to the Falcon Family. You have inherited a great group of young men who are ready to show that there is talent at SE. Hopefully everyone who claims to be part of the Falcon Family can join together in support.
A good football program was built by a good coach, now lets all see what the next chapter looks like.

  6. from a previous post….

    HS FOOTBALL said,

With Fritz now @ PG maybe that is the plan and we just haven’t heard it official yet.

Poster talking about the plan being for Calvin Brown to make the move from Providence Grove to Southern Guilford to be the head coach of the Storm and was wondering here, when Coach Fritz Hessenthaler made the move to PG and has he been named the head coach or become part of the coaching staff there at PG???

Checked the Asheboro paper and some on-line sources and did not see anything there…

Coach Tinsley is “The Man” now at Southeast Guilford and I wish SEG and Dudley were playing next year, to see how the overall mood would be for both teams going in, with a former Panther now in charge of the Falcons….

*****Anybody heard a word on the Western Guilford job???*****

  7. Great hire for Southeast. Kennedy will do a fantastic job. He is great with the kids and does a superb job of recruiting the hallways. I look for great things from Coach Tinsley!

  8. Dudley Panthers will be pulling for Falcons and Coach Tinsley… Yeah, its a Panther Pride thang

  9. Brown didn’t leave Southern Guilford because of a principal meddling. Ms. Krazeski want involved in the slightest in any of the football activities at SG. Plus it was well known she was going to retire in December, so if this was actually true, Brown would have stayed at SG and waited it out. @chuckybrown, this is one of the most uninformed posts I have ever read on here, and that is saying a lot.

  10. I am with you Common Sense. Not sure how a post about Coach Tinsley and SEG took a turn down Drake Road.

  11. Former Guilford County principals do well and they move up too….

Terry Worrell, who was the principal at Page, she is now the superintendent for the Asheboro City Schools and Patrice Faison, who was also a most recent principal at Page, she is now the superintendent for the Thomasville City Schools…

My uncle, who was in charge of the grounds at Western Guilford High School, is now a mechanic for the Thomas Built Buses….

  12. SE wants to be like Dudley in football
Dudley wants to be like SE in baseball.

Two athletic schools very close together that should admire the accomplishments not only what they put on the fields, but the classrooms as well. Happy for both Dudley and SE!

Can someone please please talk some baseball??
Other than SE, NG & SW… anybody going to beat those 3?
Gonna be a fun year come March!
