Elon Women’s Hoops to Host “Soup-A-Bowl” Fundraiser on Jan. 8

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women’s basketball team is teaming up with Allied Churches of Alamance County for the inaugural Soup-A-Bowl bowling tournament on Sunday, Jan. 8, from 5-6 p.m. at Country Club Lanes in Burlington, N.C. Earlier in the day, the Phoenix plays host to CAA foe Delaware at 2 p.m. inside Alumni Gym.

Fans who bring a canned good to the game will receive a $1 discount on admission. During the game at every media timeout, fans will be asked to participate in different bowling-theme promotions to prepare them for the Soup-A-Bowl tournament at Country Club Lanes.

Teams will consist of two Elon players and two sponsors. Sponsors are an individual or pair of individuals that pay $100 to be on a bowling team with two women’s basketball players. Each player and sponsor is responsible for securing donations from financial supporters who have agreed to pay a certain dollar amount for a strike and the team who scores the most points. All proceeds will go to Allied Churches of Alamance County. Checks can be made out to Allied Churches.
