  1. I would like to say that Darryl Brown is one of the best football coaches in Greensboro and North Carolina for that matter. Whenever he was at Southern Guilford he always had winning seasons and my nephew Josh Graves played for him in his JV years and his first year at the helm of the varsity in 2004. Josh really liked and respected him. I think that his grandfather, Coach CK Siler rubbed off on him but Darryl truly is a great coach, mentor, and man. I grew up at Southeast Guilford and continue to support the football team and Coach Fritz Hessenthaler over there but I will support Coach Brown also. I talked to the principal at Southeast, Mark Seagraves and I told him that I could not believe that Darryl would leave Southern Guilford. I thought that Grimsley might have offered him more money but Seagraves who is also from Southern Guilford told me no, that they could not pay him anymore than they were at Southern Guilford. I think Darryl just needed a change and Grimsley football has just not been that good in years and he felt like he could go over there and make a difference. I think that if he wins 5 games this year then that will be a successful season. I think that it will take him at least 3 years to beat Page but I predict that he will do it because he is one determined and intense coach. I hope he does not beat Southeast this year but we are in for one heckava game whenever we do play them. I wish you Coach Darryl Brown and your players at Grimsley High School much success this year and in the future.

    Sincerely,
    Mike Turner
