Greensboro Grasshoppers To Honor Esurance Rising Star Students Program Winner During On-Field Ceremony

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Grasshoppers, Esurance and Big Brother Big Sisters of BBBS of Central Piedmont will recognize Elizabeth Cook, one of the 14 Esurance Rising Star Students Program winners, during an on-field ceremony on Thursday, September 1.

Cook will receive a $5,000 check from Esurance for college expenses. She is a notable high school student who is part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) mentor program and is getting ready for the next level, college.

Elizabeth is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in acting at SUNY Purchase College. She joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont to help her confidence and overcome anxiety. She credits her “Big” for helping her with public speaking skills and instilling a newfound confidence in herself.

“We are proud to team up with Esurance and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America in recognizing Elizabeth Cook, one of the rising stars in the Greensboro community,” said Donald Moore, President and General Manager of the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Nominations for the Rising Star Students program were made in July and August by BBBS agencies. Submissions included unique and inspirational stories, academic accolades, college and career plans and more, focusing on why the individual was a “Rising Star” in his or her community. To be eligible, the nominees had to be classified as “Bigs” or “Littles” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

In June, Esurance and Minor League Baseball announced a strategic multi-year partnership making it the exclusive home and auto insurance partner of Minor League Baseball. To learn more about Esurance’s Call-Up Worthy campaign with Minor League Baseball, visit www.MiLB.com/CallUpWorthy.
