Bill France Jr.’s wife has died and she had local ties:Betty Jane Knight from Guilford College community will be remembered for her service(NASCAR has lost a Noted Knight)

From William Taylor:
Betty Jane France has died. Her maiden name was Knight. She was married to Bill France Jr. of NASCAR. In the 50’s, she attended Guilford School and was a student of my Mother’s Senior English class. Later, B.J. worked for City Motors, the Rambler dealership, in Greensboro. She was first married to Bob Montgomery, the radio broadcaster for most auto races. Later she married Bill France Jr. and became known as The First Lady of NASCAR and devoted much of her energy to charitable activities. She was truly an example of a local girl from a humble background that did well. May she R.I.P.

  1. Tell that to William Taylor, he is the guy who sent in the info and if I see him I will tell him….

Willie/William said she was married to Bob Montgomery Sr. he did call the NASCAR races…

I will check it later in more detail, but the Bob Montgomery family lived right down the road from me after Bob died and his wife was a Knight and they(the Knights) did attend Guilford High School, now Western Guilford HS…

There is more to this than meets the eye here and I was trying to figure out if Ms. Knight married Bill France after Bob Montgomery died in my efforts to create a time line for William Taylor’s info…

I get ’em and I print ’em and live the rest to maker….Willie sent this one and we printed it…

Will study this story more when we get more time, but we may be on to something big here and maybe not….

I stay busy tracking all of these sports and where I used to live it was crazier than this…

I spent some time down around the Triangle area and did quite well…They named a town after me(Durham) and that is when I decided to get out and head this way…

Will do appreciate the input and will be looking at this closer as the good time allows….
