MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Greensboro College football team was picked to finish eighth in the USA South Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference announced Monday.

“I am looking forward to having our guys back on campus to begin camp,” Head Coach Greg Crum said. “Our focus is on building a team from within and playing with tremendous intensity. Everybody loves an underdog!”

The Pride will begin a new era on Sept. 3 when they open their 2016 season with the 20th Annual Gate City Soup Bowl against Guilford College, under first-year Head Coach Greg Crum.

Last season, the Pride finished with an overall mark of 3-7, while going 2-5 in USA South play. Huntingdon College, which finished atop the USA South last season, was picked as the preseason favorite after receiving seven first-place votes, while Maryville College was tabbed second with one first-place vote.

N.C. Wesleyan College, LaGrange College, Methodist University, Averett University, and Ferrum College rounded out the remainder of the poll.
