Baseball (25-27)

CAA Tournament

Elon at College of Charleston, Wednesday, May 25, at 3:30 p.m., Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

• The Phoenix is seeded third in the upcoming CAA Tournament that will be held from Wednesday, May 25 – Saturday, May 28, at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Elon opens the tournament with a 3:30 p.m. game against host and sixth-seeded College of Charleston. All Elon games can be heard live on WSML 104.5 FM and 1200 AM and online at elonphoenix.com.

• Should Elon defeat CofC on Wednesday, the Phoenix would advance to take on second-seeded William & Mary at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. A loss to the Cougars would see the maroon and gold turn around and play again on Wednesday against the loser of the game between fourth-seeded James Madison and fifth-seeded Northeastern.

• Junior Nick Zammarelli enters the tournament needing two doubles to match the program’s single-season mark of 24 set by Grant Rembert in 2004.

Women’s Track and Field

Elon at NCAA East Preliminaries, Thursday – Saturday, May 26 – 28, Jacksonville, Fla.

• Five members of the Elon women’s track and field team will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary round beginning on Thursday at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. It’s the third straight year that the Phoenix has qualified a program-best five athletes for the NCAA East Preliminaries.

• Competing this week for Elon are senior hurdlers Jen Esposito (400-meter hurdles) and Sydney Griffin (100-meter hurdles), distance runners Tereza Novotna (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Kimberly Johansen (1,500-meters), along with first-time qualifier, sophomore thrower Bryanna Hames (discus).

• If any of the athletes finish in the top-12 of their respective event, they will qualify for the national semifinal and final rounds at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted in Eugene, Ore., on June 8 – 11.
