Pride Football Announces 2016 Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Head Football Coach Greg Crum released the upcoming 2016 football schedule Wednesday.
“The Greensboro College football family is very excited to begin the 2016 season,” Crum said. “Our players are working extremely hard with their off-season workouts in preparation for our preseason camp in August.”
The Pride will take on nine common opponents from one year ago, while welcoming back an old-time foe in Newport News Apprentice School.
Greensboro will look to snap a three-game losing skid against Guilford College in the 20th annual Gate City Soup Bowl when it opens the 2016 season at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 on Guilford’s Appenzeller Field.
Following the match-up with the Quakers, the Pride will return to the friendly confines of Jamieson Stadium for four consecutive games. Greensboro will host Apprentice (Sept. 10) and Gallaudet University (Sept. 17) before opening USA South Athletic Conference play with Ferrum College (Oct. 1) and LaGrange College (Oct. 8).
The Pride will face its first road conference test of the season in Week 7 when they travel up to Averett University on Oct. 15.
Greensboro will host the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan for Homecoming 2016 on Oct. 22, followed by road trips to Huntingdon College and Methodist University.
Greensboro will then close out the 2016 regular season at home Nov. 12 against Maryville College at 1p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the Pride will recognize its senior class.
“As we move forward, our staff and players are focusing each day to improve,” Crum said. “Our philosophy throughout out the whole season will be one snap, one series, and one game at a time.
“We are eager to begin and look forward to taking strides within the conference to make our mark, as we put our best foot forward each and every day.”
