GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s Mike Grimsley and Jean Lojko were among six individuals inducted into USA South Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Sunday.

Joining Grimsley and Lojko in the 2016 class was former student-athletes Steve Artis (Christopher Newport University), Ryan Jenkins (Methodist University), and Trish Parker (North Carolina Wesleyan College), along with current USA South Athletic Conference Commissioner Rita Wiggs.

Grimsley, who was inducted into the Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991, was a member of the men’s soccer team from 1989 to 1991. Mike was a two-time All-American, a two-time All-Conference performer, and Conference Player of the Year twice while leading his men’s soccer squad to the 1989 conference regular-season and tournament championships.

After winning the conference championships in 1989, Grimsley and his team reached the NCAA Division III national-championship game before falling to Elizabethton (Pa.), 2-0.

In 1990, Grimsley received Greensboro College’s Fred Joseph Award, which recognizes the college’s top male student-athlete. Additionally, Grimsley was named to the Who’s Who Among Students in American College and Universities list.

Grimsley finished his collegiate career as the conference leader in single-season and career points.

“It was such an honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame with such an amazing class,” Grimsley said. “It was a great privilege to have played a part in Greensboro College soccer.”

Joining Grimsley in the Hall of Fame was former Greensboro College Head Coach Jean Lojko.

Lojko served as a head coach at Greensboro College for 31 years and was inducted into the Greensboro College Hall of Fame in 2014. Lojko spent all 31 years on the volleyball bench, but also served as the head women’s basketball coach for six seasons and the head women’s tennis coach for nine seasons.

Lojko earned six conference volleyball Coach of the Year honors and one basketball Coach of the Year honor. Nationally, she was the 1985 American Women’s Sports Foundation Middle South Basketball Coach of the Year and the 1990 American Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Lojko guided her volleyball squads to seven conference regular-season championships and four tournament crowns. She is also a two-time recipient of the Robert L. Lindsey Meritorious Service Award from the Carolina Region of USA Volleyball.

Lojko is ranked 15th in NCAA Division III career volleyball wins with 649. Lojko has also served as athletic director, senior woman administrator, and as an associate professor of physical education.

In addition to being inducted into the Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame, Lojko was also inducted into the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. Lojko joins one of her former student-athletes, Laura Lee Brown, in the USA South Hall of Fame; Brown was inducted in 2015.

“It is absolutely amazing to go into the USA South Hall of Fame with a great friend (Rita Wiggs), along with four other outstanding individuals,” Lojko said. “I had some great assistant coaches over the years, and I was blessed to have a great administration to work with as well. I really do think that this is a team honor, and I am very pleased for Greensboro College volleyball.”
