Elon vs. North Carolina A&T, Wednesday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m., Latham Park

Elon at Delaware, Friday – Sunday, May 6 – 8, at 3/1/1 p.m., Newark, Del.

• The Phoenix went 3-1 last week, including a pair of wins at James Madison. Elon has now won 10 of its last 11 CAA contests.

• Elon has turned 55 double plays this season, the most for the program since turning 57 in 2012.

• Elon’s CAA series at Delaware will mark the conclusion of league play for the Phoenix. The two sides met five times last year with Delaware earning three victories. The maroon and gold currently sits in third place in the CAA standings and the top two will receive a bye in the opening round of the CAA Tournament.

Softball (26-23, 9-8)

Elon at Delaware, Friday – Saturday, May 6 – 7, at 3/12/2 p.m., Newark, Del.

• Elon closes out the regular season this weekend with a Colonial Athletic Association road series at Delaware beginning on Friday, May 6. The Phoenix sits in third in the league standings with a 9-8 ledger as the maroon and gold tries to solidify itself for the five-team CAA Tournament field.

• The Phoenix defeated No. 6 James Madison, 5-4, in 15 innings on Saturday in game one of a doubleheader at Hunt Softball Park. The victory was Elon’s highest-ranked victory ever and its second win ever versus a top-10 opponent. Elon also handed the Dukes its first CAA regular-season loss since 2014, snapping JMU’s 42-game win streak. The 15-inning contest tied for the longest of the season in Division I softball with Elon achieving that feat twice.

• Sophomore Kara Shutt recorded her 21st double of the year on Saturday, setting a new single-season school record. The Greensboro, N.C., native broke the previous school mark of 20 by Dani Concepcion (2002-05).

Women’s Lacrosse (10-6)

CAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship

No. 3 Elon vs. No. 2 Towson, Friday, May 6, at 3:30 p.m., Philadelphia

• The Phoenix stumbled in its regular-season finale at William & Mary on Saturday, falling 11-9. Each of Elon’s three losses in conference play this year came by only two goals.

• Elon’s CAA regular season record earned the team the third seed in the upcoming CAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The Phoenix takes on second-seeded Towson in the semifinals on Friday at Drexel’s Vidas Field. If the team advances, the maroon and gold will face the winner of the No. 1 James Madison/No. 4 Drexel game in the championship on Sunday, May 8, at 1:35 p.m.

• When the Phoenix faced the No. 17 Tigers earlier this season, the team trailed by just one with a few minutes remaining before Towson netted the final goal with 31 seconds left to win, 11-9.

Women’s Track and Field

CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Friday – Saturday, May 6 – 7, Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex

• The Phoenix hosts the CAA Track and Field Championships this weekend, May 6 – 7, on its home track at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex. Last year, the Elon women’s track program won its first-ever league title and the first team conference championship for Elon in its first year in the CAA.

• Elon won 13 titles at its home meet, the Phoenix Invitational, on April 23 in its most recent competition. It was the second straight year that the maroon and gold has hosted its annual meet after nearly an eight-year hiatus.

• Among the standouts at the Phoenix Invitational was the Phoenix’s 4×100-meter relay team of Simone Jackson, Jen Esposito, Desiree Ross and Sydney Griffin. The quartet set a new school-record in the event with a time of 46.52.
