LYNCHBURG, Va. – Haley Lochren and Kat Francis scored four goals apiece in Lynchburg College’s 16-13 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse victory over visiting Guilford College Wednesday.

The Hornets (10-5, 6-2 ODAC) scored four of the game’s first five goals for an early 4-1 edge. The Quakers (7-9, 5-4 ODAC) settled down and the teams traded two tallies apiece before Lynchburg reeled off five straight netfinders, two by Lochren. Guilford’s Carter MacLeod scored with two minutes left in the first half, which made it 11-5 at intermission.

Sarah Suter’s third and final goal opened second-half scoring and gave the Hornets a 12-5 margin, but Guilford roared back with five of the next six scores. Demming Carlow capped the spurt, which brought the Quakers to within 13-11 with 12:15 to play.

Francis’ fourth and final score opened a 16-12 Lynchburg lead with eight minutes left. The Quakers’ Holly Kozak tallied with 4:20 remaining, but Guilford drew no closer. The Quakers had a pair of free-positions in the remaining time, but neither was on goal. Lynchburg goalie Treva Tyson stopped a Taylor Campellone shot in the final minute to keep the Quakers off the board.

Carolina Carozza had five assists for Lynchburg, which held a 44-27 edge in shots. Lochren also had a helper and finished with five points. Laura Meisner and Alexa Carey both scored twice. Maddie Koontz scored once and collected a game-high five draw controls, which helped the Hornets to a 19-12 edge in the category. Meisner and Rachel Henderson picked up four ground balls apiece and Tyson made seven stops in goal.

Guilford netminder Sammi Milbourn stopped a career-high 20 shots, 15 in the opening half. Amanda Dionne paced the Quakers with four goals and four draws. Marina Bailey tallied three times, but missed on three free-position shots. Carlow and MacLeod scored two goals apiece.
