HPT HiToms Continue Local Economy Impact

High Point/Thomasville, NC – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms continued their efforts to expand the greater High Point areas sports calendar by posting a record setting economic impact number for its 2nd Annual HPT HiToms Winter College baseball classics.

Hosting the classic at Historic Finch Field in late February and early March, the HPT baseball franchise coordinated three, weekend events that attracted nine mid-Atlantic college baseball programs and nearly 1,000 visitors.

According to High Point Point Convention & Visitors Bureau, the first quarter, baseball classics registered an economic impact of over $600,000 on the greater High Point/Thomasville region.

“The HiToms are committed to assuming a leadership position in our community’s economic development future,” HiToms President Greg Suire said. “Our resources and efforts are clearly set on cultivating the HPT community as a sports destination and a magnet for millennials.”

The record setting 2016 college classic follows on the heels of the May, 2015 NCAA Division II Southern Regional at Historic Finch Field. HPCVB economic estimates from last spring’s regional championships were an impressive $1.8 million to the local HPT economy.
