Howard is our current contest leader as we hit the home stretch:UNC vs. Villanova for the NCAA Title Tonight

CLICK HERE for the GreensboroSports.com NCAA Basketball Contest standings and you will Howard at the top as we hit the home stretch heading into tonight’s final game with the Tar Heels facing the Wildcats, in Houston…

How often do we say Villanova Wildcats??? Had to do a double-clutch and make sure I was thinking right when I hit the Wildcats’ name, because we don’t find ourselves saying that one, all that often…

Could be a war tonight and can Howard hang on and win???

He/Howard(our current contest leader) might be in a line of key names, since the star player for Villanova back in the early 70’s when Villanova hit the NCAA Final Four was Howard Porter…Porter played collegiately at Villanova University, where he was a three-time All-America selection. He took Villanova to the 1971 NCAA Championship Game, in which Villanova lost to UCLA 68-62. Porter was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after scoring 25 points in the final game. However, he was later ruled ineligible for the honor because he had signed a professional contract with the Pittsburgh Condors of the American Basketball Association during the middle of his senior year. To the present day, the MOP for the 1971 Final Four is listed as “*Vacated”.
Villanova also had to forfeit NCAA and regular season games due to Porter’s participation……The background check here is coming in from Wikipedia…

Here is the update on William Graves(Dudley HS) from WRALSportsFan.com:

    William Graves

Graves was dismissed from UNC in 2010 for failing to comply with team rules and opted to turn pro overseas.

After injuring his knee, Graves returned to Chapel Hill in 2013 to earn his degree. UNC head coach Roy Williams gave Graves a job as part-time video coordinator for the team. On Dec. 6, 2013, he was cited for misdemeanor marijuana charges. Graves eventually earned a degree in sociology in 2014.

The former Tar Heel is currently playing in Israel with Maccabi Bazan Gaifa of the Israeli Super League averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.
