HPCA JV 4:30 at Dudley then Varsity at 7pm. Should be a really good game. Dudley is loaded and one of the best teams in the area.

How everybody uses their pitching right here early in the week will be critical and still the HPCA at Dudley game carries a lot of weight…There are a lot of people that have never seen HPCA play a baseball game, but tonight they will and if Dudley beats HPCA tonight, it could get really loud and proud over there on Lincoln Street…
In the back of mind I am wondering if HPCA came over to Dudley for Saturday afternoon game during a round robin deal a few years back and it was real hot Saturday…Tevin Neal was pitching for Dudley back then…
And I remember a real cold Monday afternoon when Dudley went over and beat Wesleyan at Ed Price Field and Dudley was throwing Cory Kimber back then and he was throwing 90 mph as a junior and today after a successful Tommy John’s surgery he is throwing 97 mph…Should get a shot at the bigs in 1 to 2 more years max..That’s if he can keep it up…There are no guarantees…
Last season was 1st time Dudley ever played HPCA. Figure Pruitt might throw for Dudley. HPCA has 3 studs to choose from Gesell, Lawson and Nifong. Per twitter against Charlotte Christian they all 3 topped over the 90mph mark. I was there but didn’t get close to the pro scouts that were there to see the guns. There 3 pitchers pretty impressive. They have that blemish against Glenn, but if they play like they did Friday night – don’t believe they will be beat again. Believe HP probably has deepest staff in the area maybe even the state. It could be quite on Lincoln St. tonight!! Dudley has a good squad just not sure they have the pitching and enough hitters to keep up tonight. Look forward to seeing the game and comments later tonight!
good hitting will hit good pitching.just because you throw hard doesnt mean you can strike out everybody. dudley game will be a good one they beat western and they can hit so just dont make a mistake , they can hit the hard stuff very well.good luck to both teams.
Typically good pitching beats good hitting. Hitting the hard stuff in HS is normally mid 80s not 90 plus. Not saying the Dudley boys can’t hit it but 90 plus is not your typical hard stuff in HS. Should be a good game!
Thinking back to that warm Saturday noon game it might have been Vandalia Christian and Coach Luke Oates over at Dudley that day instead of HPCA…I have a vague memory of white, blue and some gold in the uniforms, but Dudley has those same colors, but I do remember Vandalia had a catcher that year that was supposed to be real good and they may have had OF Houston Miller then too..
There was a time when the old Brightwood team, the Brightwood Christian Academy, they had Jimmy Whitt, Billy Whitt, Chris Pruitt, Chris Rich, I think Billy Welch was there but he later left for Dudley, well anyway, they had a decent pure baseball bunch back in the day…Ed Cobbler may have been their coach for a while….
Dudley beat Western Alamance last week, but then WA turned around and lost to Southern Alamance too, this early in the year, you never know…
Those Zarate brothers and they have a new one on board, plus Gavin Taylor are a George Barber team hot out of the blocks up in Rockingham County…Very interesting to see RC at (5-0) and up among the tops in the Mid-State 3-A…
I also noticed Austen Zente’s name with one of the college teams the other day and not sure which one…He was a Southwest Guilford Cowboy and now it hits me and I’m pretty sure I saw him in the High Point University baseball box score….
