American Legion Baseball returns to Greensboro!

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms announced today the re-launch of an American Legion baseball program in Greensboro. The Greensboro Burtner Post 53 Redwings are the newest affiliate of the HPT HiToms franchise, which now boasts six teams under the organization’s umbrella.

Committed to growing amateur baseball in the Greensboro area, the Post 53 Redwings will be based out of Dudley High School.

Greg Suire, the president of the HiToms and Wilson Tobs, will serve as the Redwings athletic director.

“The HiToms have been very successful in growing baseball in the greater High Point area,” Greg Suire said. “We are excited with the prospect of bringing our commitment to baseball’s growth to Greensboro.”

Re-stablishing the High Point-Thomasville area Post 87 American Legion program in 2002, the HiToms have established themselves as one of the state’s premier amateur baseball incubators.

· North Carolina state American Legion tournament qualifiers: 2011, ‘12, ‘13, ’14, ‘15

“I’d like to thank Ken Mackovick and his staff for pioneering legion baseball’s Greensboro return last summer, Dale Moser said. “It is truly an honor to be representing our community’s veterans and the Henry K. Burtner Post 53 community. We are thrilled to get the season started.”

Tryouts for the Redwings will be Saturday, April 16th and interested players can e-mail info@hitoms.com for time and location details.

  1. That team last year was very strong and probably the most talented team in the State.
