The game last night was huge for both basketball teams.

For UNCG, it started a stretch of huge games for them. They played at Wake Forest last night. On Saturday, UNCG travels to Alamance County to take on Elon. Then, they travel to Raleigh to play NC State next Tuesday. UNCG ends this tough stretch on the Monday after Christmas in Chapel Hill when UNCG plays at UNC. This game against Wake Forest was important to UNCG. Sure, they wanted to win against an ACC opponent. However, it would boost UNCG’s confidence if they kept it close with Wake Forest and did not get blown out. For Wake Forest, this game was huge, because they got one of their captains back, Codi Miller-McIntyre. Codi has been injured for the beginning of the season with a foot injury. He was not going to play major minutes against UNCG. They wanted him to play a little bit just so he could get back on the floor. It would be interesting to see how Wake Forest responded to having one of their main guys back on the floor playing with them.

I was fortunate to be at the game so it was fun for me personally. It was just an incredible atmosphere!

The game was close throughout surprisingly. Wake Forest was only up by two points at halftime. At one point in the second half, UNCG took a one point lead. Unfortunately, that is the best that they could do.

In the second half, Wake Forest started to pull away a little bit. It was obvious that Wake Forest was a much deeper team than UNCG. UNCG’s best players showed up though. They were not scared just because they were playing at Wake Forest.

The statement is true. If you play better competition; it makes you play better. It was obvious that UNCG was having an effect on Wake Forest as well. Wake Forest was obviously the better team, but they played down to UNCG’s level.

This is not a good sign for Wake Forest, especially coming into ACC play soon. Wake Forest needs to play well regardless of their opponents talent. The same can go for UNCG as well. Wake Forest did end up winning by ten points over UNCG. Even though they lost, it was a plus for UNCG. They stayed in the game the whole time. They took the lead at one point. They played really good basketball. I hope that UNCG continues this on their hard road trip. Overall, it was a good night in Winston-Salem last night for Wake Forest and UNCG.
