HPU’s Keys, Edwards Garner Weekly WBB Accolades

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Junior Kaylah Keys and freshman Lindsey Edwards of the High Point University women’s basketball team earned weekly honors on Monday.

Edwards, the league’s choice for Big South Freshman of the Week, averaged 16.0 points and 3.0 steals as the Panthers went 2-0 on the week. The guard posted a season-high 18 points against Longwood before grabbing four steals in the win over Radford. The Perry Hall, Md. native shot 56 percent (15-of-27) from the floor in the two contests.

Meanwhile, CollegeSportsMadness.com named Keys Big South Player of the Week. The guard scored 26 points in the win over the Lancers going 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes to seal the victory. She followed that up with 13 points as the team bested Radford. All in all, the Southaven, Miss. native averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per outing on the week.

Behind the performances of Keys and Edwards, the Panthers jumped out to 2-0 in Big South play for the second straight year. The Purple & White will wrap up their non-conference slate hosting VCU on Dec. 16 before traveling to Elon on Dec. 19.
