Bryson Gordon here, and I am back this week, again on Tuesday to give y’all my updated First Four, and First Two Out.

There were some crazy upsets this week, which included the number 3 team Ohio State losing, which ended their FBS leading 23 game winning streak.

The Big 10 was sent into scramble mode, while they figure who will be the best team that represents them in the playoff, while the Big 12 continues the third week of their backloaded schedule this week. Alabama has all but put away the SEC West, but with a loss to Auburn, and an Ole Miss win could put a damper on the SEC’s chances of getting in the playoff.

The Pac 12 looks to be Stanford’s to lose but their playoff chances are slim. Oh and the UNC Tar Heels are really making things interesting in the ACC with their big games against NC State, and the number one team Clemson in December.

1) Clemson (won 33-13 vs. Wake Forest)
Why are they number one? Clemson proved once again why they are the best team in the Country. They played another complete game against Wake Forest, while DeShaun Watson tried to better his chances at getting an invite to New York for the Heisman Ceremony. The Tigers play a very weak South Carolina team this week, in a tune-up for its test against UNC in the ACC championship game, which could be do or die if the ACC wants a team in the playoff.

2) Alabama (Won 56-6 vs Charleston Southern)
Why are they number 2? Alabama rolled Charleston Southern is a cupcake week for a majority of the SEC. The Tide are steamrolling their competition since the loss against Ole Miss, and that could prove to be detrimental to this team’s playoff hopes. While Alabama has been dominant since, they blew the game and now Ole Miss still has a chance to keep Alabama out of the playoff, if Auburn knocks off Alabama in the recently crazy Iron Bowl, and if Ole Miss can pull out a win in Starkville. If that happens, the SEC would be all but out of the playoff, seeing that its best team would be a two-loss non-SEC champion Alabama.

3) Iowa (won 40-20 vs Purdue)
Why they are number 3? I think it is finally time to jump on the Iowa train… FOR NOW. Iowa rolled another Big 10 team, and officially becoming the highest ranked Big 10 team in this week’s polls, following Ohio State’s loss against Michigan State. If Iowa can win out they will definitely be in the playoff, but it is a tall task, because it must go through either; Ohio State, Michigan State, or Michigan in the Big 10 title game. This is going to be a very tall task, but if Iowa wants to prove the doubters wrong, they will have to win out.

4) Notre Dame (won 19-16 vs Boston College)
Why are they number 4? Another week, another ho-hum performance from Notre Dame. The Irish have kind of slept walked through the last four weeks, but they have a chance to stake their claim this week against a very good Stanford team. A win against Stanford might not be enough to put them in the playoff, remember, Notre Dame has no conference championship game, so they will not get the chance to play on championship Saturday, and that means they will not be “Fresh” on the committee’s mind.
Next up- at Stanford 11/28

5) Oklahoma (won 30-29 vs TCU)
Why are they number 5? Remember when Oklahoma lost to Texas earlier this season? OUCH. This Oklahoma team would be the number one team in the Country had it not been for that loss. Their strength of schedule has been really strong, but it is not getting easier. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will fight for the Big 12. It is simple for Oklahoma, Win and in. If they lose, and Baylor wins, Baylor will be the Big 12 champ, but if Oklahoma State wins, and Baylor loses, Oklahoma State will be the champ. Oklahoma is by far right now the Big 12’s best shot at being in the playoff.
Next up- at Oklahoma State 11/28

6) Michigan State (Won 17-14 at Ohio State)
Why are they number 6? Wow, what a win that was Saturday night for Mark Dantonio’s squad. They upset the defending champs, in the Horseshoe, WITHOUT their starting QB Connor Cook. Michigan State can still sneak into this playoff, if they win this week, and knock off Iowa in the Big 10 Championship. Michigan State was a favorite early this season, and they have been up and down, but now it looks like they are at the top to stay.
