HPCA had 2 of there players commit to play baseball at the next level yesterday. Josh Nifong (2017)(RHP) has committed to Duke University. Brody Lawson also a 2017 (RHP) has committed to UNCW.

  1. I think its great to see all these local kids going and playing at the next level. I would say big question is in High Point alone there are 6 maybe more players going on to play Division 1 baseball. What about the local Universities ? Does High Point Univ. recruit any of these kids- seems like a lot of good talent leaving this area to play elsewhere and then they come back and beat HPU ,or UNCG or A&T or Wake. See if anyone knows if these kids have been recruited by HPU or any of these other schools. If you expand out to a 30 mile radius the amount of Division 1 baseball players increases significantly. Just hardly ever see local kids playing local , especially HPU. Look forward to any explanations that could shed some light on curiosity. Congrats to all these fine baseball players who have committed and or signed in our triad region over the last few weeks.

  2. Yes, they are recruited by these schools, but schools like UNCW and Duke (ACC) are much better teams than the 3 you mentioned above. I played for one of those three, but the truth is the truth.

  3. Being a former Panther and supporter of HPU , it ticks me off to see all those local players leave and not even be recruited by them- even the other local universities. There are 6 players in High Point that have either signed or verbally committed to play baseball away from home – and know first hand that HPU didn’t recruit a single one of them – nor did UNCG , Elon ,A&T , or Wake. If you don’t recruit them how do expect them to have any interest in your program. Someone at HPU has to looking at this and saying here are D-1 players from our hometown and we didn’t even recruit them. Why?
