Elon Announces Full 2015-16 Men’s Basketball Schedule

ELON, N.C. – Hosting a portion of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, in addition to non-conference games at Syracuse, Michigan, and the defending national champions Duke, highlight the Elon University men’s basketball non-conference schedule announced today, Oct. 7, by head coach Matt Matheny.

After hosting William Peace on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. for an exhibition contest, the Phoenix hits the road to face Charlotte on Friday, Nov. 13, to open the regular season. The game will be broadcasted on American Sports Network (ASN). Three days later, the maroon and gold heads to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a first-ever meeting with the Michigan Wolverines on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. as part of the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland games on ESPN3.

The home opener awaits the Phoenix on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Alumni Gym, as they face Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m. Elon will play in its second Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland game at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Nov. 21, against the Syracuse Orange on ESPN3. It marks the first meeting between the two schools.

Elon makes a return home to host a Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland Tournament, Nov. 26-27, which includes Mount St. Mary’s, Furman, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Phoenix faces Mount St. Mary’s on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m., followed by a game against either the Paladins or the Islanders on Friday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m.

Following the tournament, Kennesaw State will make a visit to Alumni Gym on Monday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. The Phoenix then takes a trip to Miami four days later to face off against the FIU Panthers on Friday, Dec. 4, for a 7 p.m. tip.

A three-game home stand begins on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., as the Phoenix welcome Wesley College to Alumni Gym. Elon will then host SWAC opponent Alabama State on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m.

Triad rivals meet again on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Alumni Gym when Elon faces UNCG at 1 p.m. to close out the three-game home slate. Elon is the winner of the last 11 games versus the Spartans. The Phoenix begins a two-game road swing in Asheville, N.C., against UNC-Asheville on Monday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m.

Before jumping into conference play on Dec. 31 at home against defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Northeastern in Alumni Gym, Elon closes its non-conference slate by invading Cameron Indoor Stadium for the third time in four years to face the reigning national champion Duke Blue Devils on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
