College Volleyball Final – Shenandoah 3, Guilford 0

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University hit above .300 in two of three sets to claim a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest over Guilford College, 3-0 (19-25, 22-25, 18-25).

Guilford (4-10, 1-4 ODAC) traded rallies with Shenandoah (10-7, 3-2 ODAC) in the first set where the Quakers produced a four-point rally to create their largest lead in the set, 16-13. Shenandoah countered with a eight-point rally to claim the lead and create distance after claiming the lead.

The Quakers jumped to a 6-1 lead to start the second set and held a 12-7 lead in the middle of the set. The Hornets chipped away throughout the set, claiming a four-point lead, 22-18, late in the set and held off a Quaker rally.

The Quakers started strong again in set three with the set’s first three points, but Shenandoah countered with a six-point rally for the early lead. Guilford claimed a two-point lead, 11-9, but Shenandoah limited Guilford rallies for the rest of the set and produced a four-point rally late in the set to claim the victory.

Kelsey Ruehling led the Quakers with nine kills, hitting .261, with four service aces. Casey Davis added seven kills, six digs, and three blocks. The Quakers totaled eight service aces as a team while amassing eight blocks at the net.

Kaitlyn Kelly totaled ten kills with a .412 hitting percentage for Shenandoah while totaling three blocks. Allie Pieper amassed nine kills while hitting .333 and blocking four attacks.

The Quakers return home Tuesday, host William Peace in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. inside Ragan-Brown Field House.
