HPU’s Lomas Named USILA MLAX All-American

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Junior Dan Lomas of the High Point University men’s lacrosse team was named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Honorable Mention All-America on Thursday.

“The pool of great attackmen for the 2015 season was very deep and this is an amazing honor for both Dan and our program,” head coach Jon Torpey said. “Dan is a great player, teammate and leader. He is a marked man in every game we play and his willingness to do whatever it takes for the team to move forward is remarkable. When you get into coaching, you dream of coaching guys as relentless and selfless as Dan.”

For the second season in a row, Lomas earned USILA All-America recognition after leading the conference in goals. In 2015, Lomas upped his HPU single-season record to 43 goals after scoring 42 last season. He became the first player in program history to eclipse 100 goals and reached that mark in just 38 games.

The Burlington, Ontario native was selected as the Southern Conference Player of the Year a year after winning the same honor in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The junior also was a member of the First-Team All-SoCon squad and the league’s all-tournament team.

Lomas will enter his senior season as second or third among active players in career goals scored with 121. He trails only Brody Eastwood of Stony Brook (146) and leads Ryan Brown of Johns Hopkins (117). Brown will play this weekend in the national semifinals.
