Elon’s Coffer Earns All-State WBB Honors

ELON, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its annual All-State Women’s Basketball teams today, March 31, with Elon’s Sam Coffer earning second team honors.

Coffer played and started all 32 games for the Phoenix this season and did the same in over 115 games in her collegiate career. This season, the senior led the team and ranked 14th in the Colonial Athletic Association in rebounding with 5.8 boards per game. She ranked 10th in the league in blocks (1.0/game) and leaves fourth on the program’s career blocked shots list with 126 blocks. This season, she posted a season-high 19 points off seven field goals and five three-pointers at CofC and was named the CAA Player of the Week. Coffer posted 10 games in double figures this year, including two double-doubles, and 30 in her career,

A two-year team captain, Coffer has been selected to the Academic All-District First Team twice, earned academic all-conference honors three times and holds a 3.89 GPA in biochemistry.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

NCCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’ s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
