GC Pride WBB To Face Thomas Moore In NCAA Tournament

GREENSBORO, NC – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced their parings for the upcoming 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament on Monday afternoon.

The Pride, who earned the USA South Athletic Conference’s automatic bid, will travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to take on the Saints of Thomas Moore University on Friday afternoon. A game time has yet to be announced.

The Pride enters the tournament with an overall record of 24-4 while the Saints, who earned the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title, enter the tournament with a 27-0 mark.

Seniors Tiffani Stephens and Shanita Hampton look to lead Greensboro into the NCAA Tournament. Coming off of her MVP performance in last week’s conference tournament, Stephens is averaging 10.8 points per game along with 3.4 blocks per game. Hampton on the other hand leads the Pride in scoring with a 13.6 point per game average.

Thomas Moore is led by junior forward Sydney Moss. Moss currently averages 22 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per contest. Nikki Kieman and Abby Owings also average double figures for the Saints.

The last time the Pride and the Saints met on the hardwood was in the 2007-2008 season. Thomas Moore defeated Greensboro by a 76-63 in the first round of the national tournament.

The Pride will also join Eastern Mennonite (22-4) and La Roche (22-5) in the Thomas Moore pod. Those two teams will face off in the other first round game.

This is the first appearance in the big dance for the Pride since the 2010 season when the Pride reached the Sweet 16.
