College Softball News – Guilford’s Boyd Named ODAC Hitter of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Taylor Boyd (Franklinton, N.C./South Granville) collected the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Softball Hitter of the Week Award Monday. She is the second straight Quaker so honored, joining teammate Rachel Howard, who earned the first of the ODAC’s weekly honors Feb. 16.

Boyd, a 5-7 infielder, hit a team-leading .571 in the Quakers’ four games last week. She went two-for-six with a double, triple and two runs scored in Guilford’s nonconference sweep of William Peace University Feb. 21. Boyd went three-for-four in both games of a doubleheader loss to Averett University the following day. She also doubled and scored twice in the Averett games.

After six games, Boyd ranks second in the ODAC only to Howard with a .429 batting average. She is third in the league in on-base percentage (.478) and slugging percentage (.619). Boyd tops the ODAC in doubles (2), triples (1) and total bases (13).

Coach Dennis Shores Quakers (3-3) visit Greensboro College Wednesday (2/25) before returning home to host Methodist University this Saturday (2/28) at 1:00 p.m.
