ELON, N.C. – The Elon University and Wake Forest University athletic departments have announced that the 2015 season-opening football bout between the two programs will be played on Thursday, Sept. 3 in Winston-Salem, N.C. It will mark the first time in its NCAA Division I tenure that the Phoenix has opened a campaign on a Thursday.
Elon and Wake Forest, separated by approximately 50 miles, have met on the gridiron 10 times before this season’s scheduled meeting. The two last faced off on Sept. 19, 2009 at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem.
By opening at Wake Forest, the Phoenix will be playing its fourth consecutive opener against an ACC foe and fifth straight versus a FBS program.
Season tickets for the 2015 Elon football season will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
